Professor John Beilby
Research Interests: Cardiovascular Genetics, Biochemistry
Professor Beilby is a Medical Scientist at PathWest and Adjunct Professor in the UWA School of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. He is the Head of Department of the Diagnostic Genomics Laboratory in PathWest at the Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre, Nedlands WA. He graduated from the University of Western Australia with a BSc(Hons) and PhD. He has a Fellowship of the Australasian Association of Clinical Biochemistry (FAACB), is a Member of the Human Genetics Society of Australasia (MHGSA) and a Founding Fellow of the Faculty of Science, The Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (FFSc(RCPA)). Apart from diagnostic work, he has had a strong interest in clinical research and teaching in genetics. His research areas include studying biomarkers and genetic variants associated with cardiovascular disease, respiratory disease, diabetes and other aspects of clinical research. He has over 200 peer-reviewed publications in journals covering these areas.
